What is mediation?

Mediation is a process for resolving disputes by which an independent mediator assists the parties in reaching a mutually satisfactory settlement.

About Mediation

What is the role of the mediator?

The mediator's role is to guide the parties toward their own resolution. Through joint sessions and separate caucuses with parties, the mediator helps both sides define the issues clearly, understand each other's position and move closer to resolution.

What is the mediation process?

There are essentially 5 steps to a successful mediation.  They are comprised of the introduction; statement of the problem; information gathering; identification of the problems; bargaining; and finally, settlement.
